Paddling skills
Scouts learn how to handle a canoe, work with a paddling partner, and move confidently on the river.
An annual Troop 25 tradition
Each year, Troop 25 closes out the Scouting year with a weekend on the water. Scouts build paddling skills alongside family members and troop adults, camp near the river, and share one more outdoor adventure before summer.
The river, route, dates, and cost are selected for each trip. We will publish the next plan here once those details are ready.

Learning on the water
Scouts learn how to handle a canoe, work with a paddling partner, and move confidently on the river.
Scouts practice river safety through life jackets, weather awareness, safe loading, and good judgment on every trip.
Traveling and camping as a group gives Scouts practice helping one another and caring for the river corridor.
One trip each year
The exact itinerary changes with the destination and river conditions, but the trip combines canoeing, camping, and time together as a troop. Scouts help prepare personal gear, keep equipment dry, make camp, and leave the river better than they found it.
Review the route, safety expectations, canoe partners, and packing plan.
Practice communication, boat control, and looking out for everyone on the water.
Carry what is needed for the trip and share the work of setting up camp.
Past trip
Troop 25 paddled the Current River on May 29–31, 2026. The weekend included a family campout, a 28-mile canoe route, and an overnight camp along the river.
This is a record of a past outing and is not current trip information. Dates, destination, distance, cost, and registration details will be set separately for the next float trip.
